Berkshire Forest Amherst is the only private gated section within the Berkshire Forest community and is located near the amenity center and borders a large lake.

The recently approved purchase of land by Augusta Plantation Drive by the Horry County Government will soon allow for simple passage to from Berkshire Forest through to Highway 31. And, of course, the River Oaks Elementary School is located within Berkshire Forest, allowing for simplified transportation to school for the little ones!
Berkshire Forest is turning over from Developer (Pulte) control to homeowner control. This transition started with an election that has been completed. Now that the new Board is elected, a walkthrough of the community will be performed with Pulte, the homeowner's association management company (AAM), and the newly elected Board. A punch list will be created with items that the Board would like Pulte to look further into such as certain areas of concern, any uncompleted work, etc. Once a mutual decision is made for each punch list item, a second follow up walkthrough will be scheduled to ensure that these items were completed by Pulte (if that is what was decided). This process basically continues until all items have been completed. This process could take several months - or even years.
