South Island Landing is a new home community of single-family homes located just off of Highway 17 (Fraser Street) on the south side of Georgetown, SC and only a couple of miles from the historic waterfront area of Georgetown. NOTE: In Georgetown, SC, U.S. Highway 17 is locally referred to as Fraser Street as it passes through the historic downtown area.
South Island Landing is also located in close proximity to the Georgetown County Airport (GGE) – a public-use general aviation airport that was originally built by the U.S. Navy during World War II. GGE now serves private aircraft, corporate jets, flight training, and charter operations rather than commercial airlines. With two asphalt runways — including a 6,000-foot primary runway — GGE is well-equipped to handle business aviation traffic and plays an important role as a regional gateway for Georgetown and the southern Grand Strand area. GGE does not have a regular commercial airline service like Myrtle Beach does – it is primarily a general aviation airport.
