The new home community of Edgefield in Loris is just 1 mile off of Highway 9 and near the intersection of Camp Swamp Road and Old Buck Creek Road where Highway 144 terminates.

A few years ago, back in 2022, Horry County approved development of 235 single family units on an approximate 86 acre of land in a master planned community in this location that was named the “Graham Tract” - as the Graham family owned this property at the time. B & M Properties of the Carolinas LLC subsequently bought the land from the Graham family in early 2023.

In November of 2024, Edgefield LLC purchased this parcel of land.

Great Southern Homes is the builder in Edgefield.

Preliminary plans from Great Southern Homes are showing 47 single-family homes in an initial phase of Edgefield that runs along Camp Swamp Road.

Great Southern Homes will be offering both single and two story single family homes in Edgefield with the base square footage of the model homes ranging from 1,297 square feet of living space to 2,295 square feet of living space.

As of May 2025, Great Southern Homes has not yet announced timing or pricing of the new single-family homes in Edgefield. Expectations are that presales in Edgefield will begin in late spring/early summer of 2025.

Notes:

• The new home community of Edgefield will be located just down Camp Swamp Road from D. R. Horton's The Forest at Black Bear new home community. The Forest at Black Bear by D. R. Horton is a home community in Longs that first began to sell single family homes in August of 2023. The initial phase of construction at The Forest at Black Bear consisted of 73 single-family homes – all of which are either rented, sold or under contract. D. R. Horton is about to release the Phase 2 set of single-family homes in The Forest at Black Bear. There will be 58 single-family homes in the second phase of The Forest at Black Bear.
• Great Southern Homes is also planning another new home community - Myrtle West - close to Edgefield. The future new home community of Myrtle West is located on a 41.65 acre parcel of land. Horry County Government has approved development for 30 single family homes in Myrtle West. Myrtle West is currently owned by Creekside Homes. In January 2024, United Homes Group, Inc. (UHG), acquired the homebuilding business and assets of Creekside Custom Homes, LLC. UHG operates in the southeastern United States, with its builder brand Great Southern Homes having an emphasis on South Carolina, Georgia, and soon North Carolina markets.
