A new home community location along the Intracoastal Waterway is obviously appealing, but proximity to the Robert Edge Parkway that feeds right into the heart of North Myrtle Beach likely further increases that appeal. Robert Edge Parkway extends from SC Highway 90 west to US Highway 17 at Main Street in North Myrtle Beach and includes a bridge over the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway and an interchange at Carolina Bays Parkway. The Robert Edge Parkway (named after Robert Edge) opened in September 2009 and was the final project in Horry County’s initial Road Improvement and Development Effort (RIDE) program. Robert Edge is a well-known name in the Grand Strand. Robert Edge, Sr. was the first mayor of North Myrtle Beach in 1968 when the beach towns of Ocean Drive Beach, Crescent Beach (of which Robert Edge Sr. had been the mayor) and Windy Hill came together to form North Myrtle Beach.
