News Title:D. R. Horton is planning another new subdivision in the Socastee area off of Enterprise Road - Winfield Farms
Winfield Farms is conveniently located near Highway 31, Highway 544 and Highway 707, just south of the Waccamaw River in Socastee. Silverfox Landing, Hampton Park, Hidden Woods and Regal Farms are a few of the subdivisions close to where the new home community of Winfield Farms will be developed in Socastee.
Robert Winfield sold this approximate 108 acre piece of property to LSW Holdings LLC back in 2007. The property was subsequently rezoned in early 2023.
The Forestar Real Estate Group then purchased this property in May of 2024. The Forestar Group Inc. is a residential lot development company with operations in 57 markets and 23 states. Based in Arlington, Texas, the Company delivered more than 14,900 residential lots during the twelve month period ended December 31, 2023.
D. R. Horton and Forestar Group have been strategically connected since October 5, 2017, when D.R. Horton acquired 75% of Forestar’s outstanding shares for $17.75 per share, in a transaction valued at approximately $560 million D.R. Horton is now the majority owner (75%) and holds a controlling stake in Forestar. As a result, D. R. Horton is expected to be the builder in Winfield Farms.
Horry County has approved the development of 212 single-family homes in the new home community of Winfield Farms, although preliminary plans are showing approximately 175 single-family homes being developed.
An initial phase of development is showing approximately 75 single-family homes in Winfield Farms.
Home construction in this Socastee new home community of Winfield Farms has not yet begun, but the permitting has been acquired and land development is progressing.
D. R. Horton has not announced timing or plans for building single-family homes in the new home community of Winfield Farms.
