The Retreat at Wild Wing by D. R. Horton is one of the final sections within the master planned community of Wild Wing Plantation. Wild Wing is a relatively mature new home community in Conway that is situated on the beautiful and legendary Wild Wing Golf Course near the Carolina Forest section of Myrtle Beach. This new home community in Conway is just off of Highway 501 - thus making the trip to the Grand Strand a snap! Coastal Carolina University is just a few minutes away - directly across highway 501.
The Wild Wing golf course first opened in 1991. Wood Stork was the original Wild Wing golf course. The Avocet course in Wild Wing opened up in 1993. Over time, Hummingbird, Falcon were other courses added to Wild Wing portfolio, but all the courses with the exception of Avocet were closed as the land was developed for new home communities. Today, Avocet is the only remaining Wild Wing course and is now part of the Founders Collection in Myrtle Beach. The Founders Collection is a portfolio of over 20 golf courses in and around Myrtle Beach owned and/or operated by Founders Group International (FGI). D. R. Horton started closing the first of 110 single-family homes in their newest section of The Retreat at Wild Wing back in May of 2024.
As of early November 2025, only a couple of single-family homes in The Retreat at Wild Wing are left for sale. The single-family homes in The Retreat at Wild Wing by D. R. Horton have sold from $363,000 to $542,000 with an average selling price of around $407,000.
