News Title: Howell Homes Connection Emerges Behind Long-Planned Trestle Ridge in Aynor
A long-planned residential development along Highway 319 in Aynor may be taking a new step toward development, with recent utility activity and property records revealing a connection to local homebuilder Howell Homes.

Trestle Ridge is a proposed single-family home community located along Highway 319, north of the Highway 501 and Highway 22 interchange. Preliminary plans call for 163 single-family homes on approximately 74.25 acres. The property is also immediately adjacent to the Aynor Area Passive Park, providing the planned community with an existing area of open space directly alongside the development.

Passive parks generally focus on lower-impact recreational uses such as walking, enjoying nature and spending time outdoors rather than organized sports and intensive recreational facilities. The location is particularly notable given the rural character of this part of Aynor, where residential development continues to expand while substantial areas of open space remain.

Trestle Ridge has been planned for several years, but construction had not begun as of October 2026 and no builder had been publicly identified.  A water utility permit issued in 2025, however, provides evidence of more recent activity involving the property.

The water encroachment permit was applied for in April of 2025, and issued in May of 2025.   While the permit does not establish that home construction has begun, it does indicate utility-related activity associated with the long-planned development.

The property's ownership history provides another important piece of the story. The tract was originally associated with Campbell Frank Bryan, who transferred the property to Holliday Associates LLC in 1998. Holliday Associates subsequently transferred the property to Campbell 319 LLC in 2022.

The 2022 transfer should not be interpreted as a recent purchase of Trestle Ridge. Campbell 319 LLC has held the property for several years. What is significant now is the connection between that ownership entity and Howell Homes.

The registered agent for Campbell 319 LLC is Mickey Howell, with the company's registered address listed at 535 Brunson Spring Road in Galivants Ferry — the same business address associated with Howell Homes.

There has been no public announcement identifying Howell Homes as the builder or developer of Trestle Ridge. However, the Campbell 319 LLC ownership creates a direct connection between the entity holding the property and the local homebuilder.

A Potentially Broader Role for Howell Homes

The Trestle Ridge connection is particularly interesting because Howell Homes appears to be doing more than simply building individual custom homes.
Howell Homes has established itself as a custom builder in the Myrtle Beach area, including work in communities such as Waterway Palms Plantation, Waterbridge and The Bluffs on the Waterway. But the company's more recent activity also shows involvement in smaller-scale residential development and land acquisition.

Howell Homes has also been involved with Arbor Ridge in Conway, an 18-home community located just off Highway 501. The project represents a different business model from building individual custom homes on lots controlled by someone else, with the builder participating in the creation of a residential community itself.

Howell Homes also acquired an approximately 6-acre property along Highway 129 near Aynor in September 2026. No formal development plan has been announced for that property, but the acquisition adds another example of the builder becoming involved directly in land that could potentially support residential development.

Trestle Ridge would represent a considerably larger opportunity if the project ultimately moves forward under Howell-associated ownership. The existing plans call for 163 homes across approximately 74 acres.

The company's experience with Arbor Ridge also demonstrates some flexibility in its approach to residential projects. That community was initially launched as a traditional for-sale development, but as sales absorption slowed, a portion of the completed inventory was transitioned into the rental market rather than being discounted.

Taken together, these projects raise the possibility that Howell Homes is gradually expanding beyond its traditional role as a custom homebuilder into a broader residential development model involving land acquisition, community development, home construction and potentially longer-term ownership of completed homes. There has been no formal announcement outlining such a strategy, so this should be viewed as an emerging pattern rather than a stated company direction.

What Happens With Trestle Ridge?

It is still too early to say exactly what will happen at Trestle Ridge. The previously approved concept calls for 163 single-family homes, but that plan could potentially be retained, modified or redesigned before construction begins.

No public information has yet been identified establishing a construction schedule, home plans, pricing or a final builder for the community.
For now, Trestle Ridge remains a planned development. However, the combination of the 2025 water utility permit, the Campbell 319 LLC ownership and its direct connection to Mickey Howell, together with Howell Homes' increasing involvement in residential land and community development, makes the long-planned Highway 319 property one worth watching.

If Howell Homes ultimately moves forward with Trestle Ridge, the project could represent the company's largest community-development opportunity to date and provide another indication of how the local builder's role in the Grand Strand residential market may be evolving.
