Highway 9 provides an important east-west connection through Longs, offering access toward Loris to the west and North Myrtle Beach to the east. Highway 905 provides another major route through the area, connecting Longs with surrounding communities and the broader Grand Strand.
The location also puts Timber Grove in the middle of an increasingly active residential area. The Villages at Longs is directly next to the proposed community, while Ivy Woods is located nearby off Castlers Heights Road. Additional new home development, including Beazer Homes' Marshwood, has added to the growing residential presence in the Longs area.
Long Acres Drive is a paved, two-lane Horry County-maintained road. Preliminary plans for Timber Grove include two access points along Long Acres Drive, a 25-foot streetscape buffer along Long Acres Drive, and a 35-foot streetscape buffer along SC Highway 905.

The first single-family homes in Ivy Woods began closing in early 2024, and the community sold out in late 2025.
During its sales period, the new single-family homes in Ivy Woods sold from approximately $205,000 to $273,000, with an average selling price of approximately $242,000.
Ivy Woods is another example of the residential growth occurring in this portion of Longs, with its location near Highway 905 and Highway 9 placing it close to the proposed Timber Grove community.
Timber Grove Development Timeline
The proposed community was previously known as Amerling Ridge during the approval process.
The process to amend the land use for the property to “Rural Communities” occurred in August 2024. In May 2025, encroachment permits were obtained for the property to allow improvements including grading, roadside ditching, and two waterline jack-and-bores.
As of September 2026, the timing for development and the start of home sales at Timber Grove has not yet been announced.
