News Title: D. R. Horton is now selling single-family homes in the Southshore Bay community (technically located in Sunset Beach, with a Calabash, NC area address).
D. R. Horton is pricing the entry level model in Southshore Bay starting at around $300,000, though there are even slightly lower priced options.

Calabash, NC continues to grow in both size and popularity. Known for its famous seafood heritage and welcoming coastal lifestyle, the town’s unique charm and attractive amenities are drawing more people to the area.


Southshore Bay, a new home community in Calabash, is ideally situated just 2 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. The neighborhood offers convenient access right off Highway 179, directly across from the Oyster Bay Golf Course.


Oyster Bay is part of the Legends Golf Resort - which offers five of the best championship golf courses available in Myrtle Beach and the surrounding states of South Carolina and North Carolina. Legends Golf Resort has three courses just off Highway 501 in Myrtle Beach (Heathland, Moorland, and Parkland). The Heritage Club is on the southern end in Pawleys Island, SC and the Oyster Bay Golf Links is on the northern end of Myrtle Beach’s Grand Strand in Sunset Beach, NC.

A master plan for a residential cluster on this Southshore Bay parcel was previously approved for conditional zoning on June 28, 2023, for 57 homes sites. A more current approved plan for Southshore Bay consists of 49 single-family homes on 12.37 acres with around five acres of open space.

D. R. Horton now has plans to build 49 single family homes on this site in the new home community of Southshore Bay in Calabash, NC.

Southshore Bay will feature five unique floor plans ranging from 1,045 to 1,498 square feet, with 2–4 bedrooms—designed to fit a variety of lifestyles with smart, functional layouts and modern finishes.

1. Cameron – 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 car garage, 1 story, approximately 1,498 square feet of living space.

D. R. Horton is pricing the Cameron floorplan in Southshore Bay starting in the $313’s.

2. Downing – 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 car garage, 1 story, approximately 1,257 square feet of living space.

D. R. Horton is pricing the Downing floorplan in Southshore Bay starting in the $303’s.

3. Lewis – 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, no garage, 1 story, approximately 1,256 square feet of living space.

D. R. Horton is pricing the Lewis floorplan in Southshore Bay starting in the $295’s.

4. Perry – 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, no garage, 1 story, approximately 1,045 square feet of living space.

D. R. Horton is pricing the Perry floorplan in Southshore Bay starting in the $285’s.

5. Greenbriar – 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 car garage, 1 story, approximately 1,151 square feet of living space.

D. R. Horton has not yet announced pricing for the Greenbriar floorplan.
