Heron Pointe is a single-family home community in the southern Myrtle Beach area developed by D.R. Horton on approximately 80 acres of the former Heron Point Golf Club property. Located off Blue Heron Boulevard near the Highway 31 and Highway 707 interchange, the community is adjacent to Myrtle Beach Golf & Yacht Club and Cypress River Plantation, with convenient access to the surrounding Grand Strand, area beaches, shopping, dining and golf courses. The former Heron Point Golf Club opened in 1988 and closed at the end of 2014 after facing financial difficulties and the need for major capital improvements. D.R. Horton purchased more than 80 acres of the remaining golf-course property in August 2023 and developed 101 single-family homes in Heron Pointe, with the first closings beginning in March 2025. The community reached closeout in late 2026, with home sales ranging from approximately $362,000 to $563,000 and an average sale price of about $431,000. D.R. Horton offered five floor plans ranging from the 1,733-square-foot, three-bedroom Eaton to the 3,216-square-foot, five-bedroom Tillman. Other plans included the 2,271-square-foot Belfort, the 2,665-square-foot Forrester and the 3,129-square-foot Harbor Oak. Near the end of the community's sales cycle, advertised starting prices were reduced across the five plans, with reductions of approximately $14,000 to $18,000 compared with prices advertised just over six months earlier. Heron Pointe represents the residential redevelopment of a portion of a former Myrtle Beach golf course into a neighborhood of single-family homes.
